Texture Language for Buyers
“Embossed” is not one finish. Specify the surface you actually want.
Many RFQs simply ask for “wood texture SPC.” That wording leaves too much room for variation.
A strong purchasing specification separates texture depth, pattern style, registration, gloss and bevel appearance
so the sample you approve can be repeated in production.
Deep Embossed SPC
A visibly pronounced grain relief with stronger peaks and valleys than shallow standard embossing.
It is useful when the collection needs a more tactile, premium timber impression from normal standing distance and angled light.
Often selected for: natural oak, rustic oak, walnut and premium mainstream planks.
Hand Scraped SPC
An intentionally uneven surface that imitates the softened ridges, scrapes and irregularity associated with artisan-finished hardwood.
The goal is character rather than perfectly uniform grain.
Often selected for: farmhouse, reclaimed timber, distressed and character-grade visuals.
Wood Grain Embossed SPC
The broadest surface category. A steel plate or roller creates a wood-like relief on the plank.
Grain can be subtle, medium or deep and may be random relative to the printed décor.
Often selected for: value, mainstream retail and high-volume distributor programs.
EIR SPC
Embossed In Register aligns tactile texture with the visible décor pattern.
Printed knots, pores and grain lines correspond more closely with the areas that can be felt, increasing visual realism.
Often selected for: premium private label, design-led retail and higher-value project interiors.
