Embossed SPC flooring is rigid-core vinyl plank flooring with a pressed surface texture that reproduces wood grain, pores or stone-like relief. For flooring importers, distributors and project buyers, the right finish depends on décor alignment, texture depth, wear layer, cleaning needs and budget—not embossing alone. 3C-Floor supports standard wood grain, deep embossed and EIR surface development alongside OEM sizes, backing and private-label programs.

The buyer's starting point
Embossing is a surface-design feature, not a standalone durability grade. The texture you can feel and the performance you can verify are separate purchasing decisions.
Pressed relief changes the way a wood-look or stone-look plank catches light and feels underfoot. But the finish name alone does not define abrasion performance, core density, locking quality, slip resistance or acoustic performance.
Understand true embossed-in-register (EIR) alignment ↗Quick answer · ready for specification
Choose conventional wood-grain embossing for versatile, cost-conscious SPC collections; deep embossing for stronger rustic character; and EIR when the relief must line up with printed knots and grain for a premium natural look. For all three, compare identical thickness, transparent wear-layer thickness, backing and click construction before comparing factory quotations.
Important: Embossed and EIR are not synonyms. A deeply embossed plank is not automatically registered to the print.
Surface selector
Terms vary between catalogs. The physical master sample and surface reference should control the order—not a marketing label.
| Surface type | What the buyer will notice | Best commercial use | What to verify |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard wood grain | Subtle to medium grain relief, usually not synchronized with the printed wood pattern | Broad residential ranges, mainstream wholesale SKUs and renovation lines | Pattern scale, gloss, surface consistency and perceived flatness |
| Deep embossed | More visible grooves and tactile shadow; stronger timber character | Rustic oak, walnut, character-wood collections and feature ranges | Cleaning practicality, visual balance and emboss depth versus décor |
| Hand-scraped look | Irregular scraped or distressed relief rather than uniform linear grain | Farmhouse, reclaimed wood and heritage-inspired private labels | Unnatural repetition, bevel coordination and cleanability |
| EIR / registered | Surface relief tracks printed pores, grain lines and knots | Design-led distributors, showrooms and premium OEM wood-look ranges | Visual-to-tactile registration across multiple pieces and batches |
| Crystal / stone-look | Decorative microtexture or stone-style relief; the meaning of “crystal” is supplier-specific | Contemporary wood, mineral and tile-look collections | Physical texture board, reflection, cleaning response and selected décor |
Selection rule: Ask for a named embossing sample, then approve it under daylight and oblique light. A showroom photograph alone cannot reveal tactile depth, print alignment or how a surface cleans.
3C-Floor product imagery
These official on-site images illustrate product construction, wood-grain surface detail and an installed SPC setting. Photographs are references; available embossing, color and plank configurations must be matched to a confirmed sample.

Beyond the surface
Two embossed SPC planks can look almost identical yet differ in transparent wear-layer thickness, rigid core, click profile and attached backing. Build the construction around the project and document the finish separately.
For natural low-reflection visuals, compare matte SPC flooring finishes together with the emboss pattern.

Specification planning
Options below are planning references drawn from the 3C-Floor SPC range. They are not a single stocked product or guaranteed combinations. Confirm final availability, testing and measurements by SKU.
| Buying parameter | Planning options / questions | Approval requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Finish & texture | Standard wood emboss, deep relief, hand-scraped look, EIR, crystal or stone-look pattern | Named texture reference and physical master sample |
| Décor / color | Oak, walnut, grey, greige, stone-look or project-matched artwork | Decor code, repeat balance and approved color tolerance process |
| Overall thickness | 4 mm / 5 mm / 6 mm are common rigid-core planning directions; other options depend on the construction | Clarify whether attached pad is included in the quoted measurement |
| Transparent wear layer | Common product-program directions: 0.3 / 0.5 / 0.7 mm, subject to SKU confirmation | Define actual wear layer and required performance evidence |
| Plank dimensions | Conventional and wider / longer wood-look formats; final dimensions by program | Drawing, tolerances, pattern repeat and carton coverage |
| Edge design | Square edge, micro bevel or decorative bevel options by program | Edge color, milling and assembled joint appearance |
| Backing | IXPE / EVA / no attached pad depending on approved flooring build | Backing material, thickness, adhesion and acoustic requirements |
| Lock & installation | Click-lock floating systems where specified | Lock profile, test assembly and substrate / expansion instructions |
| OEM presentation | Private-label cartons, labels, barcodes, sample boards and pallet references | Signed artwork, SKU identity, carton quantity and repeat-order record |
Important: A “6 mm” label does not, by itself, define a better wear layer or deeper texture. Compare the complete construction. For more detail, see 4 mm vs 5 mm vs 6 mm SPC flooring.
Application-led specification
Surface choice should reflect use intensity, lighting, cleaning frequency and the way the collection is merchandised.
Use an easy-to-explain progression from standard wood emboss to selected premium EIR colors. Keep the SKU range understandable and samples consistent.
Favor practical mid-tone décor, a maintainable texture and a repeatable specification. Keep installation and future replacement stock in view.
Inspect surfaces under warm corridor lighting and realistic cleaning cycles. Verify wear layer, rolling-load exposure and acoustic assembly separately.
Registered grain and subdued sheen can support an upscale look, but assess furniture loads, abrasion and spot cleaning on the selected product.
Commercial caution: Deep texture does not prove resistance to slipping, scratches or indentations. For busy public interiors, combine the surface decision with actual traffic exposure and suitable tests. Consult the high-traffic SPC flooring selection guide.
The sample approval protocol
Use a physical control board, a written SKU and multiple connected planks. A single image or isolated piece should not be the sole sign-off for a container order.
For EIR, follow a printed knot with your fingers to verify that relief and artwork match. For generic emboss, confirm the pattern supports the visual.
Place multiple planks under window light, warm lamps and grazing light. Check shine variation, valley shadows and plank-to-plank consistency.
Clean a test board using the proposed maintenance method. Confirm that grooves do not retain visible residue beyond acceptable project expectations.
Assemble several planks. Inspect click engagement, edge height, bevel continuity and printed-grain transitions.
Request relevant wear, slip, dimensional and indoor-air documentation for the specific SKU when the market or project requires it.
Retain an approved plank set, décor and emboss codes, gloss, wear layer, pad, carton artwork and tolerances for repeat shipments.
Private-label workflow
A successful factory-direct program is defined by the whole product: décor reference, surface, wear layer, size, lock, backing, packaging and acceptance conditions. Discussing all of these together reduces ambiguity between samples and bulk production.
3C-Floor publishes OEM SPC capabilities for custom décor, textures, backing and packaging. Review its OEM SPC flooring development and private-label supply program when coordinating brand cartons and repeat orders.
DEFINE
Country, target customer, sales channel, expected traffic and desired aesthetic.
MATCH
Approved colors, embossing sample, matte/gloss choice and edge design.
CONFIRM
Complete thickness, wear layer, backing and click geometry.
LOCK
Sample reference, SKU code, cartons, labels and quality checkpoints.
RFQ checklist
A good request compares equivalent constructions and lets 3C-Floor advise which surface/decoration combinations can be sampled.
Cost comparison tip: A low quote with generic wood emboss is not like-for-like with an EIR quote using a different wear layer, attached pad or plank format. Normalize every specification first, then compare FOB terms, packaging and logistics.
Frequently asked questions
Short, decision-ready answers for flooring importers, distributors, architects and private-label sourcing teams.
Embossed SPC flooring is rigid stone-plastic composite vinyl flooring with a pressed surface texture. The relief may imitate wood pores, saw marks, or stone grain while a transparent wear layer protects the printed décor. Embossing describes surface feel, not plank thickness, wear rating or a verified slip classification.
No. All EIR SPC flooring is embossed, but not all embossed SPC is EIR. Ordinary embossing creates a texture that does not necessarily follow the printed image. Embossed-in-register, or EIR, aligns surface relief with the décor grain; this must be confirmed on the approved sample.
A shallow or medium wood-grain emboss is a practical starting point for broad residential ranges. Deep or hand-scraped embossing adds a stronger rustic character, while EIR supports premium wood-look positioning. Choose from physical samples according to the target market, cleaning needs and décor.
Not necessarily. Texture affects feel, but a rough appearance is not proof of wet or dry slip performance. If a building specification requires a slip criterion, request test documentation for the exact product and specified test method.
Select wear-layer thickness by actual foot traffic, abrasion exposure and the product program, not by embossing depth. Market options often include 0.3 mm, 0.5 mm and 0.7 mm constructions, but suitability and availability must be confirmed for the quoted SKU.
SPC rigid cores and vinyl wear surfaces resist water exposure, but an installed floor is not a waterproofing system. Water can enter perimeter gaps and joints, and substrate moisture still matters. Follow the approved installation guidance and site moisture requirements.
3C-Floor supports OEM SPC discussions covering décor, surface finish, plank format, wear layer, backing, click system and private-label packaging. Confirm the precise texture/décor combination, sample availability, order terms and documentation before finalizing a bulk program.
Send the target market, intended room or traffic zone, preferred texture, décor reference, plank size, total thickness, wear layer, backing, edge treatment, quantity, required documents, packaging plan, destination port and target delivery window. Ask for a multi-plank sample and a written construction breakdown.
